Senate narrowly passes COVID relief bill after sleepless, tumultuous night

Senate narrowly passes COVID relief bill after sleepless, tumultuous night, this is the longest vote in history. Following 27 hours of debate, delays and wrangling, Democrats pushed through the legislation in a party-line vote of 50-49. (Republicans were down one vote after Sen. Dan Sullivan had to leave to go home to Alaska for the funeral of his father-in-law. )

The legislation now heads back to the House for final approval before hitting Biden’s desk for his signature on what would be his first major legislative victory.
