About HYGO News
HYGO News is the website of the HYGO News video channels on YouTube and Facebook, which publish clips of congressional hearings, White House briefings, presidential addresses and press conferences. The site pairs those videos with written context: what happened, when and where it happened, and where to find the official record.
What we publish
- Event pages built around a video: the date and setting, a summary, links to the official record (such as GovInfo's Compilation of Presidential Documents, archived White House websites and the American Presidency Project) and, where one exists, the full transcript.
- Explainers on how the federal government works, from the budget process to congressional committees and the Electoral College.
- News reports, dated, and updated with a note when the story moves on.
How featured articles are checked
Before an article is featured on our home page, in our topic pages and in search results, its quotes are checked against the official transcript where one exists, and its figures against the sources listed at the end of the article. Commentary and analysis are labeled as such and kept separate from the record of what was said. When a claim made in a speech does not hold up, the article says so rather than repeating it.
The site also hosts an archive of older video pages from the channels' history. Those pages have not been through this review. They are kept out of search engines and our article lists, and carry no advertising, until they are.
Corrections
If you find an error, please tell us through our contact page, including the article's address and the correction. Corrections are reflected in the article's update date.
