On 12/12/2021, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) said Democrats must “quit lying” about the cost of the Build Back Better Act and called for the House to revote on the massive social spending package. “The last thing I’m going to do is add more burdens to working families in South Carolina. And here’s my message to the Democratic Party: Quit lying about this bill. They should re-vote it in the House,” said Graham. “We need to stop Build Back Better before it destroys this country.”
A Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report released last week estimated that the Build Back Better Act would increase the federal deficit by $3 trillion over 10 years if all of the included provisions were made permanent. “That’s three trillion. There is not a plan to pay for it. If there is, I missed it so give it to me. Give it to the American people before we vote in the Senate. Show me how you pay for this bill,” Graham said. The South Carolina senator also mentioned that Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) had told him the bill was full of “gimmicks.”
It was reported that Graham was hoping to sway Manchin against voting for the social spending package by using numbers from the CBO report, which White House press secretary Jen Psaki referred to as a “fake CBO score.” “I would also note that there’s a particular irony here that it shouldn’t be lost on Senator Graham – maybe it is lost on Senator Graham; I don’t know …” Psaki said on 12/10/2021.
Biden uses Kentucky tornado to push climate agenda, suggests storms are ‘consequence of the warming’
On 12/11/2021, Joe Biden addressed the tornado that ravaged parts of the South and Midwest and used the tragedy to further his own beliefs on climate change. “All I know is that the intensity of the weather across the board has some impacts as a consequence of the warming of the planet and climate change,” Biden said. “The specific impact on these specific storms, I can’t say at this point.”
“I’m going to be asking the EPA and others to take a look at that,” Biden added. “The fact is that we all know everything is more intense when the climate is warming. Everything. And obviously it has some impact here, but I can’t give you a quantitative read on that.”
Joe Biden spoke about the impact the twisters had on families who were in the path of destruction. “Everything is gone from that baptismal photograph, to the wedding picture, to the picture of your oldest daughter in a ballet… I mean it’s it’s it’s profound!” Biden said.
Kentucky got hit the hardest after a monstrous tornado traveled more than 200 miles and ripped through 5 states.
