On 5/31/2022, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said she “did not hear” President Biden falsely claim he was “appointed” to the Naval Academy, during the White House press briefing. On 5/27/2022, Joe Biden claimed he applied to the Naval Academy in 1965 even though that date makes his story impossible, during his remarks at the Naval Academy graduation and commissioning ceremony in Annapolis, Maryland. Biden said he applied to Annapolis with a letter from then-Delaware Sen. J. Caleb Boggs, but the year he cited — 1965 — is the same year he graduated from the University of Delaware. The academy doesn’t offer graduate degrees. “I was told the Class of ’72 is here. I was appointed to the academy in 1965 by a senator who I was running against in 1972 — never planned it that way. I wasn’t old enough to be sworn in. I was only 29 years old when I was running,” Biden said. “He was a fine man. His name is J. Caleb Boggs,” the president went on. “I didn’t come to the academy because I wanted to be a football star. And you had a guy named [Roger] Staubach and [Joe] Bellino here. So I went to Delaware.”
Peter Doocy of Fox News grilled the White House Press Secretary on Tuesday about whether the Biden administration still blames Russia’s Vladimir Putin for the current economic situation. “And you just mentioned Putin a few times, as a reason for recent inflation. Do you guys think that any part of inflation this year is because of President Biden’s spending plans, or is it all Putin’s fault?” asked Doocy. “Well what I can say is, we are – and Brian just spoke to this – we are at a historic place when it comes to the economy…” The White House press secretary in her response echoed the talking points mentioned in Biden’s piece: “Now, we’re going to a place where we’re going into transition. We’re going to see an economy that’s more stable, that’s more steady. So that’s because of the American Rescue Plan that we, that the President signed into law, that no Republican signed, or voted for, I should say. And all of that work that he’s done the first year, has led us to a place where there are more jobs out there, more jobs are being created, that we are in a place where we’re seeing economic growth.”
“Now, and also, as I’ve stated: this is an unprecedented time.”
In a follow-up, Peter Doocy asked: “Does President Biden take any responsibility for his policies potentially contributing to inflation?” “His policies [have] helped the economy get back on its feet. That’s what his policies [have] done,” Jean-Pierre responded. She reiterated: “When we talk about the gas prices right now, this is indeed Putin’s gas hike… the President his goal right now, and what he is frustrated about, is what the American people have to go through, and what they are trying to deal with, as they are around their kitchen tables. So that is his focus right now.”
Karine Jean-Pierre on inflation: “we’re going to a place where we’re going into transition”
On Monday, Biden published an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal where he outlined his plans for fighting inflation.
Top Biden Economic Advisor Brian Deese completely waffles on what “expectation” is for inflation.
Top Biden Economic Advisor Brian Deese says Biden has been honest on inflation, but he’s blamed it on everything else.
Asked if it was “mistake” to call inflation ‘transitory,’ Brian Deese calls inflation “unexpected”.
Top advisor Brian Deese has no answer on Biden’s low poll numbers, communication with Americans. Deese said during a press briefing that Biden has not made a final decision on student loan debt relief. Biden has been considering plans to cancel some $10,000 in federal student loan debt per borrower.
Top Biden Economic Advisor Brian Deese said that Biden “understands that right now the top issue on people’s minds is prices — prices at the gas station, prices at the grocery store.” Brian Deese, who heads the White House National Economic Council, said “And he’s made very clear, and he’s communicating very clearly, that that’s his top economic priority and that we can address this from a position of strength.”
