KJP Offended Not Taking Border Crisis Seriously, Criticizes Texas Border Law, Blame GOPs, Gov Abbott
On 12/19/2023, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre attacked Abbott’s new law allowing Texas police to arrest illegal aliens. Abbott (R) on Monday signed a bill that gives Texas police power to arrest illegal aliens amid Biden’s border invasion. “Biden’s deliberate inaction has left Texas to fend for itself,” Abbott said, adding the new bill is designed to “stop the tidal wave of illegal entry into Texas.” Karine Jean-Pierre said Texas Governor Abbott’s new law protecting his state from military-age invaders “is not who we are as a country.”
Jean-Pierre told reporters Abbott’s “extreme law” will not and does not make communities in Texas safer. Instead, she added, the law is “very much in line” with what Republicans do, which is “demonize” and “dehumanize” immigrants. “This is not who we should be as a country,” Jean-Pierre said. “This is something that Governor Abbott has done over and over again. There are plenty of examples that I’ve listed from here before.”

Transcribed from the video audio:
- The crisis is less about the last three years and more about the last two months
- Since then, emergency supplemental was submitted
- There was virtually no conversation between the White House and Congress about moving it, but more specifically about that aspect of the border security aspect until word came about a week, a week and a half ago now, that the White House is willing to play ball on changes to asylum and other things
- Well, I’m not going to get to the specific of what’s being discussed here
- I’m just not going to negotiate from the podium, obviously
- But I take offense, and I think the president does too, in saying that we haven’t taken this seriously
- When you put your first piece of legislation on immigration to fix the broken system, that is taking it very seriously
- They continue to get in the way, Republicans, to be more clear on actually doing what the president is asking for
- He’s taken it seriously almost three years, almost three years, that we put forth this comprehensive piece of legislation on immigration
- Again, on a system that has been broken for decades
