If see something in the air, any concern that a missile is going to follow it?

#shorts a reporter asked White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, “so, John, I take that to mean you guys don’t have any plans to reimburse the “Bottlecap Balloon Brigade”?

MR. KIRBY: I don’t know of any plans to reimburse. We honestly don’t know what this is.

Reporter: More generally speaking, what can you tell Americans about what they should expect in the future? Understanding that these new parameters are going to be classified, if they see something in the air, should there be any concern that a missile is going to follow it?

MR. KIRBY: Again, we’re not going to rule anything out — in or out, in terms of how we’re going to treat additional potential unidentified aircraft … But the President wants to make sure that as we go forward, we do so smartly and we do so effectively. And that’s why he wants a set of new rules determined so that we can now deal with these in a — in a — perhaps a different way going — you know, going — in the future.

On 2/17/2023, John Kirby told reporters that Biden launched a $439,000 missile to pop a $12 balloon near Alaska — but insisted that it was “exactly the right thing to do” either way. Kirby faced the press one day after the Northern Illinois Bottlecap Balloon Brigade said its silver party-style balloon may have been one of three unidentified objects that Biden ordered shot down this past weekend.
