• You live in Colorado, but an awful lot of your work’s been done in North Dakota, in my state of North Dakota, and you’ve had a huge, huge impact
• When I started as governor in North Dakota in 2001, we produced less than 100,000 barrels of oil, and it was going down
• It was going down because we were drilling 14,000-foot vertical wells that were more cost-effective places to do it
• So I started a policy called Empower North Dakota, and it wasn’t just about producing more oil and gas, it was about producing energy as Senator Hick and Looper said, from all sources
• We are a powerhouse in energy, and you know it well
• And as a result of folks like that, North Dakota went from less than 100,000 barrels of oil going down to 1
