KJP Lashes Out At Reporter Biden On Vacation Amid Negotiations, Biden Not Regret Waiting 97 Days

Karine Jean Pierre Lashes Out At Reporter Who Asks Why Biden Is Going On Vacation Amid Negotiations
On 5/24/2023, a reporter asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, “So, on the debt ceiling, you used words like catastrophic and devastating today. But the president, again, is going to Camp David this weekend and then going to Delaware. Um, if the situation is so dire, then why is the president…

KJP: Well, I already answered that question. So, do you have another one? I literally just answered my question. Any other questions?

Karine Jean-Pierre: Biden Does Not Regret Waiting 97 Days To Negotiate Over Debt Limit
Reporter: Speaker McCarthy continues to criticize the president for not meeting with him for 97 days to talk about these issues. Given how close we are to this June 1st deadline with no deal at this point, does the president have any regret for not engaging with McCarthy over that time?

KJP: We’ve been very clear, Karen. I appreciate the question, and I know what the speaker has been saying. But we have also been very clear for the past several months of where we are and what’s at stake, and how important it is for Congress to do their job.

According to reports, McCarthy told House Republicans on Tuesday of the debt ceiling talks: “We are no where near a deal yet.” Joe Biden waited 97 days to engage in debt ceiling talks with House Speaker McCarthy and other congressional leaders. The White House is facing a June 1 deadline. House Republicans passed a debt ceiling resolution in April but the White House is blaming the looming default on the GOP.

Speaker McCarthy After Waiting 97 Days To Talk Debt Limit, Now 8 Days Away From Biden Default
McCarthy said, “We cannot continue down this path, but the president waited 97 days, not even to talk to me. He could have spoken to me, said we were wrong on it, other angles, but he didn’t. And now we’re eight days away from Biden having default. I don’t want that to happen. That’s why the Republicans in the House in April lifted the debt ceiling with common sense, sensible things, that pulling the coveted money back, work requirements. They let people go back to work, help our supply chain, make us less dependent on China, and more importantly, people working than they’re paying into Social Security and Medicare, making those two entities stronger, and then making us stronger in our energy field, where we’re cutting the red tape, where we could build things in America again, putting people back to work. That’s reasonable, that’s rational, but it sits in the Senate. But if the president waits too long, he can always take that up.”

Recession & Millions of Jobs Lost if Republicans Don’t Bend to Biden’s Demands on Debt Ceiling
On 5/24/2023, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said if the US goes into default, there will be a recession and millions of jobs lost. “This is a manufactured crisis, plain and simple…That’s what we’ve been dealing with…Just listen to members of the House Freedom Caucus,” Karine Jean-Pierre said.

She added, “What is at stake? A default would have catastrophic impacts in every single part of this country whether you are in a red state or in a blue state…we are talking about millions of jobs lost, devastated retirement accounts and a recession!”
