On 8/4/2022, Joe Biden virtually hosted a roundtable event with business and labor leaders to discuss his ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ that will raise taxes amid a recession. Biden, 79, is currently isolating at the White House for the sixth day in a row. Biden complained about not being able to buy an electric Corvette. “I can’t drive a vehicle while I’m Vice President, while I’m President,” Biden said.
On 8/2/2022, Joe Biden virtually joined Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s executive directive to implement the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022. Biden clings to his Notecards in Virtual Meeting with Governor Whitmer. Biden clung to his notes as he bragged about the economy under his leadership. “So that’s when I decided I was going to run [for president] and build this economy from the bottom up and the middle out,” Biden said as desperately searched his notecards.
On 8/5/2022, during his speech on the economy, President Joe Biden said his Inflation Reduction Act will reduce inflation, even though experts agree it will have no impact. Biden claimed Nobel laureates’ support. Biden said his “job” is to help families pay bills, but if that is true, he’s failing. Biden completely ignored a question on when he thinks inflation will finally subside. Biden said, “And one more point. This bill will not — let me repeat this: This bill will not — will not raise taxes on anybody making less than $400,000 a year. When it comes to the benefits of this bill, you don’t have to take my word for it. Nearly 130 economists; 7 Nobel laureates in econ- — on the economists — on economics, I should say; former Secretaries of Treasury; Federal Reserve — former Federal Reserve Vice Chair; former director of the Congressional Budget Office wrote that this bill will, quote, combine signed, quote, will “fight inflation and lower costs for American families while setting the stage for strong, stable, and broadly shared long-term economic growth.” In short, this bill is a gamechanger for working families and our economy.”
On 8/5/2022, during briefing, a reporter asked KJP, “Gov Abbott of Texas said today he started sending busloads of migrants to New York in an effort to share responsibility with other states. Does the White House have a reaction to that?”
Jean-Pierre: So, you know, it’s the latest stunt from the governor — another stunt of busing … And he’s using them as a political ploy. I mean, this is what he’s been doing, and it’s shameful. And I’ve said this before — I was asked this last week — and it’s costing — it’s costing the state of Texas $1.5 million. That’s what this game that he’s doing, that he’s playing is costing Texans — $1.5 million. … and, you know, use the lives of migrants … who are trying to find a better life for themselves — and use them; and also costing his constituents millions of — over a million dollars. That’s what he’s doing.
Reporter: I wanted to follow up on a question that was asked earlier about Governor Abbott’s actions. You called it a stunt. But what kind of support is the administration offering cities who are receiving these migrants? There was a report the Secretary of Defense denied the mayor of D.C.’s request for support from the National Guard. So what kind of support is the administration offering? And if you’re not, why not?
On 8/5/2022, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre why Joe Biden was bragging about gas prices. “Why is the President bragging today about gas prices?” Doccy queried. “Because it’s gone down,” KJP said. Doocy: “It’s still $1.72 higher than when he took office.“ KJP replied, “It has come down in a way that we have not seen…in over a decade.” Doocy asked, “It’s still over $4 a gallon though.
Jean-Pierre: Okay —
Reporter: Is that good?
Jean-Pierre: You want to talk to a nurse or a teacher or a firefighter if — if having that little bit of breathing room doesn’t matter to them?
Reporter: Are nurses and teachers and firefighters saying, “Gas prices are only $4.11…” —
Jean-Pierre: I’m saying that —
Reporter: — “…this is great”?
Reporter: So the President talked about creating 613K manufacturing jobs since February of 2020. But only 41K of those have actually been created; the rest have been added back. So is that misleading the American public?
KJP: No, we — we don’t think so. I mean, if you — I just talked about this. If you think about — when we talk about U.S. manufacturing is back, it — it’s still the fastest recovery that we have seen since 1950. That matters.
Reporter: But it’s not creating those jobs. It’s adding back the vast majority and creating 41,000.
KJP: But we’re talking about recovery — right? — the fastest recovery.
