Biden Opens His Event: “I Came Down Here Because I Heard There Was Chocolate Chip Ice Cream”
On 3/27/2023, during SBA Women’s Business Summit, Biden said, “My name is Joe Biden. (Laughter.) I’m Dr. Jill Biden’s husband. (Laughter.) And I eat Jeni’s Ice Cream, chocolate chip. (Laughter.) I came down because I heard there was chocolate chip ice cream. (Laughter.) By the way, I have a whole refrigerator full upstairs. (Laughter.) You think I’m kidding, I’m not.”
My sister used to be 3 yrs younger than me; now she’s 23 yrs younger than me; She graduated with honors; I graduated
Biden: Well, I want you to know, like you, I had two brothers — there were three in our family, three brothers, and one sister. And my sister is smarter than all of us. (Laughter.) Not a joke. She used to be three years younger than me; now she’s 23 years younger than me. (Laughter.) You know, she managed every one of my campaigns for office, even back when I was in high school. We went to the same university two years apart. She graduated with honors; I graduated. (Laughter.) And we had a simple rule in the family: Listen to Val. (Laughter.) My sister, Valerie, is incredible.
Biden: “If I’m Allowed To Take You Upstairs, I’ve Got A Whole Full Freezer” Full Of Ice Cream
The businesses represented in this room stretch across industries, from restaurants to architectural firms to hardware stores, plus Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. (Applause.) And by the way — by the way, it is splendid. (Laughter.) You think I’m joking. If I were allowed to take you upstairs, we got a whole freezer full of Jeni’s chocolate chip ice cream. (Laughter.) You know, it’s pretty dull when you’ve been in public life as long as I have and you’re known for two things: chocolate chip ice cream and Ray-Ban sunglasses. (Laughter.) But what the hell, you know?

MS. Jean-Pierre: Well, let me — let me just say that policy that we put into — into effect — the parolee program that — that the President put into effect to make sure that there’s more legal pathways for migrants and to make sure that we have a system that’s a little bit more humane in dealing with a system that needs a lot of work — and, again, he is using the tools that he has ahead — in front of him to — without the help of Republicans, to deal with a real issue that we’re seeing at the border. But that policy, I do want to say, is indeed working … I understand that there’s glitches in the app. That is something that we’re always looking at, something that we’re always wanting to make sure that we fix and deal with the issues because we want to make it easier for migrants to apply and to go through this process.
