HYGONews Week’s Most Popular Stories 10/9; Biden TWO Words, ended debate on climate, gas up or down

On 10/7/2022, Joe Biden was at a Volvo plant on national manufacturing day. Joe Biden: “Let Me Start Off With TWO Words: Made In America!” Biden brags he “was able to bring gasoline down well over $1.60/gallon.” Except gas prices are currently $1.50/gallon higher than when Biden took office. Joe Biden: “What we need to do in this transition, we have to move from a historically strong economic recovery to a more steady, stable recovery. We need to bring inflation down…and that’s exactly what we’re seeing.” Inflation is at 8.3% and the economy is in a recession!

On 10/4/2022, during the President Joe Biden White House press briefing, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre if President Biden is responsible for gas prices, “You’ve said the president was responsible for gas prices coming down, is the president responsible for gas prices going up?” Jean-Pierre replied, “So it’s a lot more nuanced than that, right. Peter you know this. There have been global challenges that we have all dealt with, when I say all meaning other countries as well have dealt with since the pandemic. There’s been pandemic and there’s been Putin’s war and Putin’s War has increased gas prices at the pump. We have seen that over the past several months and what the President was able to do, he took some historic steps when you think about the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and making sure that he we were able to do everything that we can to bring that cost down for American families.”

On 10/6/2022, Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) and Republican candidate Blake Masters offered viewers perhaps the only opportunity this fall to see both candidates side-by-side as they squared off in a televised debate. The two major party candidates were joined on stage by Libertarian candidate Marc Victor. Democrat Sen. Mark Kelly: “I’ve been focused on the border since day one.” Blake Master: “We have a wide open southern border, so if that’s the best you can do, I respectfully request you resign.” Masters challenged Sen. Mark Kelly over the Democrat’s support for legislation beefing up the IRS with 87,000 more agents while voting against an amendment that would have funded 18,000 more Border Patrol agents. Shortly after opening remarks, Kelly and Masters entered a back-and-forth over immigration and inflation. Masters hit Kelly over his votes on the Inflation Reduction Act by contrasting the bill’s funding of 87,000 additional IRS agents and Kelly’s vote against an amendment that would have funded an additional 18,000 Border Patrol agents to help handle the immigration crisis.

“Mark Kelly said no to 18,000 more Border Patrol agents, but yes to 87,000 new IRS agents. That shows you what his priorities are,” Masters said. “Mark Kelly left our southern border wide open, voted for all the trillions in spending that caused this massive inflation, and he thinks the fix is 87,000 new IRS agents.”
