Harris laughs after saying she’ll join Biden 2024. Biden called more protests. no recession

On 7/10/2022, Joe Biden called for more protests by activists in comments made to reporters during a bike ride at Rehoboth Beach while he is on yet another vacation weekend in Delaware. Reporter asked, “Do you have a, do you have a message Mr. President for women who were protesting outside the White House yesterday?” Biden, “Yes. Keep protesting. Because, keep making your point. It’s critically important. We can do a lot of things to accommodate the rights of women in the mean time. But fundamentally the only thing that’s gonna change this if we have a national law that reinstates Roe v. Wade.” The reporters did not challenge Biden on his encouragement of protests at the homes of Supreme Court Justices. Justice Brett Kavanaugh this past week was forced to leave a D.C. restaurant by a back door after protesters gathered outside.

On 7/10/2022, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg pushed back on criticism of protesters gathering outside a Washington, D.C., restaurant where Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was dining, arguing that they were exercising their First Amendment rights. Buttigieg said he had no problem with the protesters, as they were “peaceful,” noting that they were angry about the recent Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade. “When public officials go into public life, we should expect two things. One, you should always be free from … harassment, and intimidation. And two, you’re never going to be free from criticism or peaceful protests, people exercising their rights,” Buttigieg said during an appearance on Fox News. “Protesters are upset because a right, an important right that the majority of Americans support, was taken away.” Kavanaugh was dining at a restaurant in downtown D.C. when he made a backdoor exit after a group of abortion rights protesters was tipped off while the justice was eating and showed up out front.

On 7/10/2022, during a Face the Nation interview, Vice President Kamala Harris laughed off the question of whether she will run with President Joe Biden if he seeks a second term in 2024. CBS News journalist Robert Costa asked for Harris to share a message for those on Capitol Hill who speculate Biden will not run for reelection in 2024. Harris replied, “Listen to President Biden. He intends to run. And if he does, I intend to run with him,” she said before laughing.

On 7/10/2022, on ABC News “This Week with George Stephanopoulos”, Biden Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, I’d Say We Have A Very Strong Economy.
STEPHANOPOULOS: You cited all the good news … So how do you explain the disconnect between the strong economic fundamentals that you point out and the lowest consumer confidence that we’ve seen in years?

RAIMONDO: Inflation. One word. People talk about it in different ways. But if you ask folks what they’re worried about they’ll either say grocery store prices are high, food prices are high, energy prices, gas prices, that’s in people’s daily lives, right? So if — every day you’re confronted with these high prices it’s hard on folks and the president has just said that in that clip I heard, it’s tough for people. That’s why it’s the president’s number one priority. It’s our number one priority to get a handle on these prices and we will. The Fed is taking strong action. Our president’s administration, we’re doing everything we know how to do.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Let’s talk first about the possibility of a recession. Can we avoid a recession if interest rates keep climbing?

GINA RAIMONDO: I think we can. So let me say this, the economy, in the past year, year-and-a-half, has been growing at unprecedently high rates, 5, 6 percent. I don’t think that we should expect that, … we will transition to a more — to a robust growth, but a more steady growth. So I do think at some point, you know, we will see a less rapid growth in the economy, but I don’t see any reason to think that we will have a serious recession.
