On 4/18/2022, White House press secretary Jen Psaki repeatedly dodged when pressed on whether she or President Joe Biden will publicly apologize to the Border Patrol officers accused of whipping migrants. Fox News’ White House correspondent Peter Doocy pressed Psaki surrounding the news that the Border Patrol agents would not face criminal charges, but the press secretary suggested the investigation remains ongoing, “There is a process and an investigation that’s gone through the Department of Homeland Security. I don’t have any update on that,” Psaki said.
When Psaki was confronted by her own past remarks on the incident – and asked whether she’d issue an apology, too. “There was an investigation into their [Border Patrol agents] behavior so that investigation is playing out. Whenever it’s going to be announced, the Department of Homeland Security will announce that. And then I’m sure we’ll have a comment on it after that,” she said. (Psaki suggested the investigation remains ongoing but she may leave the White house soon, she’s going to go to a job likely at MSNBC)
Jen Psaki also told reporters that the administration’s return to selling oil drilling leases on federal lands isn’t to lower domestic gas prices. Earlier in the day, the Bureau of Land Management began reissuing environmental assessments and sale notices for new oil and gas leases following the suspension issued by the president in 2021. Reporters pressed Psaki on the subject, but she noted that the action is “not in line with the president’s policy” and went into effect due to a court injunction the administration is appealing. “We need to move towards a more clean energy economy,” she stated, “we don’t feel they are needed in terms of how long it will take to get up drilling because of the court action.”
She also said the court decision doesn’t undercut President Joe Biden’s stated clean energy goals, “Obviously, we’re going to continue to fight this legal action,” Psaki continued. “The president remains committed. Addressing the climate crisis is one of the four pillars that he came in — he ran on as president, and he will continue to fight for one of the reasons that this was so troubling to him.”
Responding to a question about what Biden himself can do to motivate Congress to pass his climate proposals, she claimed the administration “will continue to propose, have continued to propose, a historic investment.” “So there are a lot of ways to get there, that we will continue to work with Congress to take actions,” Psaki closed. “We are continuing to pursue [Biden’s goal], and we’re going to continue to do everything we can to reach it.”
Fox News’ Peter Doocy pressed Psaki during the press briefing asking, “Why is it that we can sit here in the White House briefing room with no masks, but people can’t sit in an airplane cabin with no masks?” Psaki explained that Washington, D.C., is a “green zone,” so the CDC is not recommending that masks be worn. Psaki also stated that Biden administration is “reviewing the decision,” and added that the Justice Department will “make any determinations about litigation.” “The CDC recommended continuing the order for additional time two weeks to be able to assess the latest science in keeping with its responsibility to protect the American people, so, this is obviously a disappointing decision,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.
White House brought out the Easter Bunny to the presser today following the Easter Egg hunt earlier today. After opening the press conference, the Easter Bunny was promptly shooed off stage by WH Press Secretary Jen Psaki, who joked “enough of the Bunny business.”

Enough of Bunny business, “continue to fight” to restrict new drilling, not apologize smeared border agents, not a doctor .
