On 6/21/2022, Joe and Jill Biden visited a local clinic hosted by the DC’s Department of Health. A reporter asked, “question on the Chevron CEO’s complaint today. He said that your administration has largely criticized the oil and gas industry and at times vilified it, and that the administration needs to take a change in approach in order to make progress on reducing energy prices and to increase supply. Do you have a reaction to that, sir?
Biden: He’s mildly sensitive. I didn’t know they’d get their feelings hurt that quickly. Look, we need more refining capacity. This idea that they don’t have oil to drill and to bring up is simply not true. This piece of the Republicans talking about, “Biden shut down fields” — wrong. There are 9,000 of them, okay? So they — we ought to be able to work something out whereby they’re able to increase refining capacity and still not give up on transitioning to renewable energy. They’re both within the realm of possibility.
Reporter: Mr. President, if you were to decide to go for a federal gas tax holiday, do you believe Congress would support that? And how would you feel about the fact that those funds are used for something that is a big priority for you — repair of roads and infrastructure and all of that? Is that work the —
Biden: We have a giant infrastructure bill we passed — giant — 1.2 — $1.2 trillion.
Reporter: So you’d be worth — it would be worth it for you to —
Biden: Sure. It’s not like — you know, it’s not like before. Look, it will have some impact, but it’s not going to be impact on major road construction and major repairs.
Reporter: Sounds like you may have made a decision?
Biden: Well, let me put this way: I’m in the process. I’ll have a decision before the week is out. But you asked me an explicit question about whether or not — how would I feel; is it going to, in fact, make it difficult to maintain our roads. The answer is: We have plenty of capacity to do that.
Reporter: Mr. President, are you going to talk to President Xi before you make any decision on the China tariffs? Do you want to have an engagement with him before you do something — anything on that?
Biden: I plan on having a conversation with President Xi. We haven’t set a time yet.
Reporter: Thank you. I think you spoke with Larry Summers recently. And he just said that in order to defeat inflation, we will have to accept higher unemployment. What would be your answer to that?
Biden: Well, there’s other — there’s other economists who don’t think that’s the case. And we’re in the process of working through all of this.
Joe Biden pointed to his Czar and told everyone in the room he runs the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “Is the doc here?” Biden asked. “You see Dr. Jha? You see that guy right there? He’s the guy that’s running the CDC for me these days!” Joe Biden said pointing at Dr. Ashish Jha. Dr. Ashish Jha is Joe Biden’s Czar (Response Coordinator) Dr. Rochelle Walensky is the director of the CDC.
Tom Farley presses Biden Advisor Rouse on inflation “Is It Possible… That Message Is …Tone-Deaf”.
On 6/16/2022, Senator James Lankford continues to call out the Biden Administration for its anti-US energy policies that he says are doing nothing substantive to fight high inflation.
He limited seismic studies necessary for new production in the Gulf. What does that matter? Well, he has opened some areas and said ‘you can drill for more oil in these areas. Oh but, by the way, you’re allowed to do that, but if you want to do seismic testing, before you do it, which is a standard, oh, we’re not doing anymore seismic testing this whole year. We’re not going to allow you to actually prepare a site. We’re just going to tell you can do it. That’s this mode that the Administration is in, produce more oil, but ‘I’m not going to actually allow you to do that with the permitting.’
He’s failed to implement a five-year offshore leasing program. What difference does that make? By law, by law now, the Administration is required to be able to put a five-year offshore leasing proposal in place. The current one expires on June the 30th of this year. That’s days away. There is no present plan in place to be able to replace it. In fact, I personally asked Secretary Haaland, the Secretary of the Interior, and she said, ‘We plan to by June the 30th,’ the deadline to have a new one in place, ‘we plan that day to be able to put out a comment of what we could do if we do a new plan.’ And I said, ‘when will that be complete?’ Her response to me was ‘we don’t have a deadline when that will be complete.’ So, what is required by law to have a plan for how we’re going to do offshore leasing, they’re going to instead, by the day it should be in place, begin discussing when they might do it in the days ahead.
