On 10/24/2022, Joe Biden celebrated Diwali in the White House. Biden Called VP Kamala Harris “The President”, “Moms are always with us, no matter what. I know well celebrating Diwali, but a few year- — days ago, it was also Kamala’s birthday. (Applause.) She turned 30. (Laughter.) Indeed. (Laughs.) And happy birthday to a great President. We know your mom is always with you.”
Biden also called first Hindu UK PM Rishi Sunak the “Rashid”, “whether here in America or for the families back in India marking 75 years of independence. And whether it’s the United Kingdom, where just today we’ve gotten news that Rashi — (applause) — Rashi Sunak is now the prime minister. As my brother would say, “Go figure.” (Laughter.) And the Conservative Party. Expected to become the next prime minister I think tomorrow, when he goes to see the King. Pretty astounding.
There were several little children in the audience. Before he even started his speech, Joe Biden invited some young kids in the front row to join him on stage, “You want to come up? You don’t have to but you can.” And before I begin, how are you guys doing out front there? (Laughter.) (Addresses children in the audience.) How are you? You want to come up here? (Applause.) You want to come up? You don’t have to, but you can. (Laughter.)
