#shorts On 1/23/2023, a reporter asked Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre during Monday’s briefing, “On Friday, when we were here, you were asked about the President going to Rehoboth and if that had anything to do with searches, and you declined to answer that. Did you know Friday there was a search going on at the President’s home?
MS. Jean-Pierre: So, I’ll say this — and I think I said this on Friday as well: They go to Delaware almost every — every weekend … And I’ll just, you know, put — I’ll just mention what was said in the statement just on Saturday, which is the DOJ requested that the search not be made public in advance, in line with its standard procedures. And we — we did adhere to that. As you can understand, that is something that we are going to take very seriously.
Reporter: Should we anticipate other searches are possible?
MS. Jean-Pierre: That part, I would definitely refer you to the White House Counsel’s Office.
Throughout the month, Jean-Pierre has fielded a volley of questions from journalists on the investigation into Biden’s alleged mishandling of classified records, which authorities found at multiple unauthorized locations. All presidential and vice presidential materials must be delivered to the National Archives under the Presidential Records Act.
