On 1/22/2023, ABC’s Martha Raddatz turned on Joe Biden and reported on the ‘escalating political fallout’ after stolen classified documents were discovered at Biden’s private office and home. FBI agents found six more classified documents at Joe Biden’s Wilmington home on Friday. While the media is still defending Joe Biden because he ‘complied’ with the search, some anchors are starting to turn on him.
“The search of a sitting president’s home dramatically escalates the political fallout, if not the legal problems, after the White House consistently tried to downplay the significance all week,” Martha Raddatz said.
On 1/22/2023, Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia said that it’s a “mistake” for the White House to want Democrats to deal with the debt ceiling without negotiating with congressional Republicans. “I think it’s a mistake because we have to negotiate. This is a democracy that we have. We have a two-party system, if you will, and we should be able to talk and find out where our differences are. And if they are irreconcilable, then you have to move on from there and let people make their decisions,” Manchin, a key Senate moderate, told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union.”
“Using the debt ceiling and holding it hostage hasn’t worked in the past,” Manchin continued, adding that he “respectfully” disagrees with his party’s No. 2 Democrat in the chamber, Majority Whip Dick Durbin, on not negotiating with Republicans. Every American has to live within a budget. If they don’t, they’re in trouble financially. Every business that’s successful has to live within a budget. Every state has to live within a budget. Shouldn’t the federal government have some guardrails that, say, ‘Hey, guys … you’re overreaching here and you’re overspending?’ But then pick your priorities. That’s all,” he added.
Every time when reporters asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about debt ceiling, her answer always: “these MAGA Republicans in the House who are saying they’re going to hold the debt ceiling unless those things are cut, that is — that is a problem … we should not be doing this with conditions. It should be done without conditions. And we should not be negotiating around it.”
“So it is essential for Congress to recognize that dealing with the debt ceiling is their constitutional responsibility. This is an easy one. This is something that should be happening without conditions.”
“we’ve been really clear. We will not — there will not be any negotiations over the debt ceiling. We will not do that. It is their constitutional duty … It should not be used as a political football. That is not how we should be moving forward here. Our outreach is deliberate to ensure Congress knows that the debt ceiling must be addressed, again, without conditions.”
“Again, this is something that should be done without conditions. We have been very, very clear about that. We are not going to be negotiating over the debt ceiling. “
“we have been very clear on this. And I said it at the top, I said it on Friday, and I’ll say it today — so has the President: This should not be political brinksmanship. We should be dealing with the debt ceiling without — without conditions. It is important. We’re not going to work our way around this; we’re not going to negotiate on this.”
On 1/22/2023, Joe Biden’s special assistant Ian Sams spoke to MSNBC after it was revealed DOJ investigators found 6 more classified documents at Biden’s Wilmington home on Friday. The search was conducted by FBI agents under US Attorney for Chicago John Lausch. Biden is currently with several aides at his Rehoboth Beach vacation home.
Joe Biden stored top-secret files with the “sensitive compartmented information” (SCIF) designation at Penn Biden Center in DC (found on Nov. 2). Lawyers discovered more classified documents at Joe Biden’s Delaware home – in the garage next to his Corvette (found on Dec. 20). Additional documents stored in Biden’s library were discovered on January 12 and again on January 20.
We don’t know how many classified documents have been recovered because Joe Biden and the DOJ are hiding information from the public. MSNBC asked Biden’s spox how many classified documents have been recovered across all three locations. “Can you give us a sense of how many classified documents we are now talking about total across all three locations?” MSNBC asked Biden’s special assistant Ian Sams. “Actually, the answer to it is a little bit complicated because of this point that I’m making of the integrity of an ongoing Justice Department investigation,” Ian Sams said.
