On 12/14/2022, Joe Biden delivered remarks at the US-Africa Business Forum. Biden on Wednesday hosted African leaders for talks on security and trade. Approximately 50 African heads of state attended. He said, “So, today, I’m announcing a new initiative: the Digital Transformation with Africa. Working with Congress to invest $350 billion to facilitate more than almost half a billion dollars in financing to make sure more people across Africa can participate in the digital economy.”
WOW! “$350 billion to facilitate more than almost half a billion dollars in financing”, how is that possible? Biden also bragged the $2B to build solar energy projects in Angola, He said, “a deal worth $2 billion to build solar energy projects in Angola; $600 million in high-speed telecommunications cable that will connect Southeast Asia to Europe via Egypt and the Horn of Africa and help bring high-speed Internet connectivity to countries all along the way.” Joe Biden has declared that his country is “all in on Africa’s future” at a conference of 49 leaders in Washington. “When Africa succeeds, the United States succeeds. Quite frankly, the whole world succeeds as well,” Biden said.
On 12/16/2022, President Joe Biden appeared to make a major gaffe when he claimed that after being elected vice president in 2008, he awarded his uncle, Frank Biden, a Purple Heart for his service in World War II, but two things are impossible:
1. there’s no evidence of the award
2. key details of the story are impossible: the fact his uncle died almost a decade before the 2008 election.
Biden said, “You know, I — my dad, when I got elected Vice President, he said, “Joey, Uncle Frank fought in the Battle of the Bulge.” He was not feeling very well now — not because of the Battle of the Bulge. But he said, “And he won the Purple Heart. And he never received it. He never — he never got it. Do you think you could help him get it? We’ll surprise him.” So we got him the Purple Heart. He had won it in the Battle of the Bulge. And I remember he came over to the house, and I came out, and he said, “Present it to him, okay?” We had the family there. I said, “Uncle Frank, you won this. And I want to…” He said, “I don’t want the damn thing.” (Laughter.) No, I’m serious. He said, “I don’t want it.” I said, “What’s the matter, Uncle Frank? You earned it.” He said, “Yeah, but the others … “
Biden’s father, Joseph R. Biden Sr., died in September 2002 — more than six years before his son was elected vice president. Frank Biden, Joe Sr.’s brother, died in 1999.
On 12/15/2022, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) swatted away a question about whether she would serve her full, two-year term in the next Congress as the longtime Democratic leader prepares to step down from the caucus’s top brass next month. A reporter asked Pelosi, ‘Will you commit to serving your full two-year term for the people of San Francisco?’ “What is this? What is this? Don’t bother me with a question like that,” Pelosi said at her weekly press conference when asked if she would commit to serving her full term for her San Francisco district. She continued to protest despite other reporters in the room once again clamoring to ask a question. “Really, really, OK. I said what I’m gonna do. You know, those kinds of questions are such a waste of my time,” she said. The speaker did not definitively say yes or no.
The question came during what may be Pelosi’s last press conference as Speaker as she gets ready to leave Democratic leadership in the next Congress. Questions have surrounded Pelosi since her announced departure from leadership over whether the 82-year-old will complete the new term she won. Rumors, however, have continued to swirl around whether Pelosi, 82, will serve out the full term she just won.
Karine Jean-Pierre praises “bi-carmel” support for Biden’s legislation. Jean-Pierre pronounced “Bi-Carmel” Support 3 times. She said, “So I think — a couple of things there: Look, this is an important civil rights accomplishment that achieved — that was achieved in a Bi-Carmel and bipartisan way. And it got that support, right? And when the President signs it today, it will build on gener- — it will build on generations of civil rights advocacy that — that brought us to this historic moment. So that’s important to note.”
“… And this question was well litigated throughout the legislative process where it passed with both chambers of bipartisan support. And I think that matters, right? Bi-Carmel, bipartisan support was had for this piece of legislation.
“Look, what we’re saying to you today is that this — this piece of legislation was done in a bipartisan, Bi-Carmel way, and it will make a difference for millions of Americans across the country …
