On 9/23/2022, Joe Biden delivered remarks at a DNC campaign-style event at the National Education Association headquarters in Washington, DC. President Joe Biden boasted gas prices, “Gas prices – I know I got criticized for going into the stockpile. But guess what? Gas prices are down, $1.30 a gallon. And in 41 states plus the District of Columbia, the average gasoline price is less than $2.99.” The Gas Prices of $2.99 is not true.
Biden pointed to a woman in the audience and said the two “go back a long way” – then he disclosed the girl was only 12… and he was 30, “But guess what? We got a lot to do. (Addressing an audience member.) You got to say hi to me. (Laughter.) We go back a long way. She was 12; I was 30. But anyway — (laughter) — this woman helped me get an awful lot done. Anyway. (Applause.)”
On 9/23/2022, Joe and Jill Biden hosted and delivered remarks at a musical performance by Sir Elton John on the South Lawn.
71-year-old Jill Biden donned a tacky, ill-fitting dress during Friday night’s musical performance. The dress was so tight that Jill Biden’s bellybutton was visible and Jill Biden kept tugging at her dress because it didn’t fit her properly. During the ceremony, at one point Joe Biden wrapped his arm around Elton and told the crowd, “By the way, it’s all his fault we are spending $6 billion in tax payer dollars on HIV and AIDS this month.” So it’s not clear where Joe pulled that $6 billion number from.
Joe Biden surprised Elton John by awarding him a National Humanities Medal, “Well, tonight it’s my great honor — and I mean this sincerely — to present the National Humanities Medal to Sir Elton John. Major Yang, please read the citation.”
MILITARY AIDE: Honored, sir. Good evening, everyone. The President of the United States awards this National Humanities Medal to Sir Elton John for moving our souls with his powerful voice in one of the defining songbooks of all time. An enduring icon and advocate with absolutely courage, who found purpose to challenge convention, shatter stigma, and advance the simple truth that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Joe Biden: I think we surprised him.
SIR ELTON JOHN: I just said to the First Lady: I’m never flabbergasted, but I’m flabbergasted — (laughter) — and humbled and honored by this incredible award from the United States of America. I will treasure this so much — (applause) — and it will make me double my efforts to make sure this disease goes away. Your kindness — America’s kindness to me as a musician is second to none. But in the war against AIDS and HIV, it’s even bigger. And I can’t thank you enough. I’m really — I’m really emotional about this. (Applause.) And thank you. (Applause.)
Joe Biden: And, by the way, it’s all his fault that we’re spending $6 billion in taxpayer money this month to help AIDS — fight HIV/AIDS.
