HYGONews Week’s Most Popular Stories 9/18; celebrate Inflation Reduction Act, blame GOP for border

On 9/16/2022, at a briefing, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Republicans bussing migrants to other states is much different than Biden doing the exact same thing, “We are offering solutions…What have they done? They do these political stunts, they vote against our…policies. Stunts aren’t solutions…We’re…trying to govern.” Rather than fly the illegals in the dead of night hidden from public view like Joe Biden, Governor DeSantis flew the migrants to the leftist enclave in broad daylight. DeSantis sent two planes of migrants to Martha’s Vineyard this week.

Jean-Pierre had no response to blaming the President Donald Trump administration for record border crossings under President Joe Biden and she ended up in a testy exchange with Fox News correspondent Jacqui Heinrich after the reporter asked a question that had already been covered in the day’s daily briefing. She read a prepared response from a binder about immigrants overwhelming El Paso, Texas.

Jean-Pierre was asked if the administration had considered moving migrants from the communities where they entered the US to other parts of the country to relieve overcrowding in those areas. Jean-Pierre would not say if President Joe Biden is considering moving migrants to relieve border congestion, she responded that there are “always conversations happening about how to deal with changing circumstances at the border and improve border processing systems” but did not go into detail about any new policies that may or may not be adopted by the administration.

On 9/15/2022, during White House press briefing, Jean-Pierre referred to “Texas Governor Ted Cruz.” Amid a historic border crisis, Jean-Pierre actually claimed President Joe Biden is “fixing a broken system.” When asked about the “influx” of illegal immigrants, Jean-Pierre said President Joe Biden has taken “unprecedented action.”

Jean-Pierre told a reporter unironically, “we agree that the border is secure,” she actually tried to blame the President Donald Trump administration for the President Joe Biden administration not having a secure border. Jean-Pierre changed the subject when asked if she has a message for the illegal aliens who are saying the border is wide open. Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich asked Karine Jean-Pierre: “Do you have a message for the migrants…who are saying that the border is open…We have heard you guys talking about trying to make it a more orderly process, but you are not telling people not to come.” Jean-Pierre changed the subject, “So, the Department of Homeland Security and Secretary Mayorkas has been very clear…so I will leave it to the Department of Homeland Security to speak to that,” Karine Jean-Pierre said. Instead of taking this as an opportunity to deliver a clear message to illegals trying to cross the border, Karine Jean-Pierre changed the subject.

Even as consumer prices surge, Kamala Harris claims Admin “seeing success” with bringing down prices. Harris brags about tax credits, rebates for “climate” even as many Americans can’t afford it. Asked if inflation is concern for Dems, Harris touts Inflation Reduction Act, which does nothing to help.

On 9/13/2022, at a briefing, a reporter asked Jean-Pierre, “On the inflation report that came out today, the President is promising the Inflation Reduction Act will do just that and bring down costs. But this bill does not address food or housing, prices of which we are seeing going up. What is your message to Americans who are seeing these rising costs and are you confident that you’re doing enough to finally bring these down?”

KJP: Look, the President has said for some time now, when it comes to his number one economic priority is to deal with inflation. Is to make sure that we are lowering costs for the American people, for American families. Americans who have to come around the table once a month, in particular, to figure out how are they going to pay those bills? Again, this is why the event that we’re having in less than 45 minutes to celebrate and talk about, you’ll hear from the President about the Inflation Reduction Act, is so critical. That is why Democrats and this President did the hard work to get that done, is to lower cost … Look, we understand that there is more work to do and that is something that we are very, very focused on as well. The more work that we have to do to get this more down, the costs are down for American families.

Reporter: But this bill doesn’t address groceries or rent, so how long should Americans expect those prices to remain high?

KJP: Look, again, we’re going to do everything that we can to lower prices, but we have taken concrete actions to lower food .. Again, we understand that there’s more work to do, but we have to understand that the Inflation Reduction Act, it is a historic
