White House tight schedule but still taking tradition to the next level for over 2 minutes

For White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, things are going sideways in a manner that’s reached comic proportions. While her boss President Biden runs around giving speeches in front of blood-red backdrops, Jean-Pierre is left at the White House podium. Holding the bag. And so far, it isn’t going well. Most of the reporters were not giving her hard time, but Jean-Pierre somehow managed to appear incompetent and hopeless many times. Sometimes Jean-Pierre just chuckled, her stumbles in several instances have made her appear underprepared. Reporters can be confused by her refusal to answer questions.

These days we can all use a laugh, what we don’t get are any real answers. Jean-Pierre has been criticized for a variety of things during her first few months at the podium, as her “unforced stumbles” and tendency to stick to the binder have been put under a microscope.

Since she is just not boosting the administration’s message or clarifying its policies, the White House might try to just limit the number of Jean-Pierre’s briefings so as to minimize her exposure. Jean-Pierre has been the subject of negative attention from both onlookers and reporters she works with. Her answers have baffled reporters, and even made some of her White House colleagues wince. She has increasingly found herself sharing the podium or splitting briefings with John Kirby, who has been taking the lead on foreign policy and at times appears to function as a co-press secretary.

Jean-Pierre: We wanted to continue our press team tradition in the briefing room. I just want to take a moment to congratulate and celebrate Andrew. He is getting married this coming Saturday, continuing that tradition, come on guys.

Speaker X: Who’s doing rapid response for that?

Andrew: I probably am.

Karine Jean-Pierre: To add to that, the love he shares for his best friend, movie pal and partner, Megan Apper is wonderful. We’re wishing them the best as they embark on a lifetime of love and happiness. So, of course, like we have done in the past, let’s start this off right, or finish this off right. Little sash over you, my friend. Continuing with the tradition. We got to continue the tradition. Ready to go? Oh, am I doing this right?

Andrew: Thank you.

Karine Jean-Pierre: All right.

Speaker X: Stand up with. Stand up with.

Karine Jean-Pierre: Come on. Come on Andrew.

Speaker X: Lot of sigh.

Karine Jean-Pierre: Okay. And one more thing, and with that, there is a special guest. A surprise guest for Andrew in the briefing room. Megan Apper, stand up. There we go. Oh, she was right there. Andrew, did you see her? And Megan, we’re taking it to the next level. Here. And here’s yours as well. All okay. All right. We take marriage and wedding very seriously here. Here on the press. Okay. All right. Congratulations, guys. We’re so excited for you and I think Andrew’s going to be gone for like 10 days, right? So don’t bug him, bug us, and really, really excited for you and congratulations to you, An. Thank you for coming to surprise him.

Andrew: I’m getting married.

Karine Jean-Pierre: And right now… Okay. I do want to do that one day, but no one will take me up on it …
