On 8/30/2022, Joe Biden held a rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Biden delivered remarks at the Marts Center at Wilkes University after no public events scheduled for several days. Biden told the crowd that this part of town, which is full of blacks, also had the “best basketball” in the state, “There’s a place where I was the only white guy that worked as a lifeguard down in that area, on the East side. On 9/2/2022, When pressed on numerous economic crises under President Joe Biden, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre could not point to any progress. When a reporter asked real wages, Jean-Pierre made no mention of Americans’ real wages being way done.
Jean-Pierre received a question from a reporter asking for the Biden administration’s response to newly released reports indicating significant learning loss for the nation’s schoolchildren over the course of the pandemic, specifically in the realms of math and reading, “what is the administration going to do about this severe learning loss, and does the administration shoulder any blame for not pushing schools to reopen sooner?” asked the reporter.
“Let’s step back to where we were not too long ago when this president walked into this administration, how mismanaged the response,” replied Jean-Pierre. In under six months, she says, schools in the nation went from being about 46 percent open to nearly all of them being open—but this is due more to the function of time passing … That was the work of this president and that was the work of Democrats in spite of Republicans not voting for the American Rescue Plan …” added Jean-Pierre, who noted that “schools were not open, the economy was shut down, businesses were shut down.” “It shows you how mismanaged …” she said.
On 9/2/2022, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked why US Marines were standing behind Joe Biden during his speech. “The presence of the marines at [Biden’s] speech was intended to demonstrate the deep and abiding respect the president has for these service members, to these ideals, and the unique role our independent military plays in defending our democracy,” Jean-Pierre said.
