Ron DeSantis Defends Trump, SLAMS Journalists for Suggesting Trump is Politicizing California Fires
On 1/9/2025, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis came to Trump’s defense when journalists tried to suggest that Trump is politicizing the California fires. Trump was meeting with Republican governors at Mar-a-Lago today, so DeSantis was surrounded by colleagues when he made these comments. DeSantis expertly called out the media for focusing on Trump when the failure of two prominent Democrats is staring them in the face. He imagines out loud, how the media would be treating Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass if they were Republicans. This was a great moment. DeSantis has a talent for dealing with the media.
DeSantis: “If Newsom were a Republican, you guys would have him nailed to a wall.”
Governor Ron DeSantis just absolutely torched this reporter and came to Trump’s defense when they attacked Trump over the criticism of Gavin Newsom. This may be his best moment yet.

DESANTIS: “It’s INAPPROPRIATE for people in YOUR industry to try and create division, and to try and create narratives any time these things happen. Now, you’re NOT as interested in doing that because Newsom is a ‘D.’”

“You guys sitting in judgement of Donald Trump – excuse me, I think your track record of politicizing these things is very, very bad.”
“The governors [would say] – just know, [in] a natural disaster – media’s coming at you. It’s not the same. If that mayor of LA were a Republican – I can only IMAGINE what [you] would do.”
