This is one of Joe Biden’s favorite lies. “I don’t want to compare difficulties, but Jill and I have a little sense of what it’s like to lose a home,” Biden said. “I was in Washington and… lightning struck at home… I almost lost my wife, my ’67 Corvette, and my cat,” Biden said as he chuckled. Joe Biden is talking about almost losing his Corvette! Biden then called the firefighters “crazy” as he continued to lie about his house fire.
Biden has told a version of this lie many times. It turns out the house didn’t burn down. According to a 2004 AP report, it was “a small fire…contained to the kitchen” that “was under control in 20 minutes.” In 2004 lightning struck Biden’s home, starting a small kitchen fire (who hasn’t had a small kitchen fire?) – Jill reported the small fire and it was under control in 20 minutes. Even WaPo’s ‘fact-checker’ Glenn Kessler has called out Joe Biden for this egregious lie.
“I remember when I got the call about my first wife and daughter. I was a young senator and got a call in Washington and I hadn’t been sworn in yet. I wasn’t old enough and I was hiring staff at the Capitol and I got a phone call from the fire department,” Biden said.
On 8/21/2023, Joe Biden arrived in Maui to survey the damage (more like a photo op) two weeks after deadly wildfires devastated the historic town of Lahaina. Biden refused to even acknowledge the suffering and loss of life after wildfires destroyed the historic town of Lahaina. After repeatedly saying “no comment” on the rising death toll in Maui, Biden reluctantly interrupted his vacation in Lake Tahoe to travel to Hawaii for a photo op.
