#shorts On 2/10/2023, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that she knew nothing about the Boston boxes and referred questions to White House counsel’s office spokesman Ian Sams. A reporter asked her, “While this briefing has been underway, the National Archives has released some of the communications between the President’s personal attorneys and the agency.
One of them, dated on November 8th, has communication between Gary Stern, who was the General Counsel of NAR, and Bob Bauer, the President’s attorney, in which it references boxes in a Boston office.
It says, “Pat…” — this is to Pat Moore, who’s the President’s personal lawyer — “Pat, we would like to pick up the boxes that are in your Boston office and move them to the JFK Library.” Any explanation as to what boxes were doing in a Boston office and how this relates to this?
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: Well, as you just mentioned, it’s — it just broke — or the report just came out while we were in the middle of a briefing. So, I can’t speak to it from here because I just don’t know what you’re — you’re speaking to.
But I would refer you to the White House Counsel’s Office to get more specifics or get you an answer there.
Reporter: Is it new to you, the idea that boxes —
MS. JEAN-PIERRE: I — I am —

The White House has repeatedly concealed information about the scandal, which last month led to the appointment of special counsel Robert Hur to determine if Biden or anyone in his orbit broke the law.
Emails between President Joe Biden’s attorneys and the National Archives detail efforts to coordinate the transfer of a previously unknown cache of documents held at a Boston law office last November. The email was sent five days after Biden’s lawyers say they discovered classified documents at Biden’s post-vice presidency office at the Penn Biden Center in Washington.
The boxes are mentioned by government archivists coordinating a search of Biden’s Washington, D.C., think tank after classified files were discovered there, according to 74 pages of emails between the National Archives and Biden’s personal attorneys released Friday in a Freedom of Information Act request. “Please ensure that the boxes in your office in Boston remain secure in a locked space and are not accessed by anyone,” General Counsel for the National Archives Gary Stern wrote on Nov. 7, 2021.
On Nov. 8, Stern wrote to Bauer and Moore, “we would like to pick up the boxes that are in your Boston office and move them to the JFK Library. Would it be possible to do that tomorrow?” Moore wrote back, “Yes, it would. I will still be in DC, so I will link you with my colleague [redacted], with whom you may have dealt in the past on other matters related to the Kennedy archives.”
A day later, Stern asked Pat Moore, a law partner at Hemenway & Barnes and an attorney for Biden, whether the boxes could be moved to the JFK Library the following day. Moore responds on Nov. 9 to connect Stern with his law partner, “who can work with you tomorrow to access our office and pick up materials there.”
CNN reported in January that Moore shipped some Penn Biden Center documents to his Boston law office before he discovered classified records.
The White House hid the initial discovery more than two months — until well after the Nov. 8 midterm elections, in which former President Donald Trump’s alleged mishandling of records was a major issue following an Aug. 8 FBI raid of his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
Biden first publicly acknowledged the discovery of classified documents at the Penn Biden Center at a Jan. 10 press conference in Mexico City — but only after CBS broke the story one day prior.
In his initial remarks, Biden didn’t say that a second cache of classified documents was reportedly found Dec. 20 by his team in his Wilmington garage and gave listeners the impression only one set of records was found.
